If you have very fine or thin hair, it can be frustrating to find accessories that stay put and hold your hair securely without sliding out. The good news is that a few simple tips can keep your hair looking lovely all day.
1. Look for claws with extra grip
If clips tend to slide out of your hair, choose claws designed to hold firmly. 2. Look for combs with lots of teeth or wavy teeth
Getting combs to stay put can take a little practice. The finer your hair, the more teeth you will need to hold it back. Waved teeth also give thin hair more support, as they are less likely to slide out than a straight-toothed comb. 3. Opt for smaller clips
Perhaps the most important point. If you have finer hair, you don't want big, heavy clips weighing it down: they are more likely to fall out and can put strain on delicate hair. Many of our barrettes, claws and clips come in several sizes, so choose the small or medium versions for the best fit.
4. Go for straight bar barrettes rather than curved styles
Curved barrettes have a larger space between the clasp and the barrette to hold more hair. If you have fine hair, a straight barrette such as our Narrow Bar Barrette Clip is usually a better choice, as it helps prevent slipping. If your hair is long and you want to put it all up in a barrette, you could still use a curved style, but choose a smaller one, like our Narrow Arched French Barrette Clip, rather than a large one.
