If you've got very fine or thin hair, it can be frustrating to find accessories that stay put, don't slide out or securely hold your hair. But don't fret, there are tips and tricks to keep your hair looking picture perfect all day.

1. Look for claws with teeth that overlap tightly

If clips tend to slide out of your hair, you want to work to avoid this by ensuring the clips you choose will hold firmly. Our Steph hair claw, square hair claw and Ooh La La! claws all close together with no gaps between the teeth, giving you a secure (but gentle!) hold. All of our French handmade claws have been rubbed down by hand for an exceptionally smooth finish, so they won't snag or break your hair either.

2. Look for combs with lots of teeth or wavy teeth

Trying to get combs to stay put can be tricky, so practise makes perfect. The finer your hair, the more teeth you will need to effectively hold it back. Waved edges also provide more support for thin hair as it stops them sliding out as easily as a straight tooth comb might! Our 8cm side comb and waved edge side combs are a great choice for those with a thinner or more silky hair type.

3. Opt for smaller clips

Perhaps the most important point! If you've got finer hair, you don't want big heavy clips weighing it down. They will fall out and potentially snap your more delicate hair, causing damage. Many of our barrettes, claws and clips come in various sizes - opt for the small or medium sized versions for the best fit.

4. Go for straight bar barrettes rather than curved styles

Curved barrettes have a larger space between the clasp and the form of the barrette to encompass more hair. If you have fine hair, a straight bar barrette should be a better bet as it will help prevent slippage. If your hair is long and you wanted to put all of your hair up in a barrette then you could still use a curved barrette, but opt for a small or medium sized barrette, like our Small Arched Barrette or Narrow Arched French Barrette, rather than a large one, dependent on the length of your hair.
